Frisco Texas Real Estate
Dubbed one of the fastest growing cities in Texas by the North Texas Council of Governments, Frisco is experiencing an unprecedented 400 percent growth rate, jumping from a little more than 6,000 in 1990 to its current population of just over 92,000. The Frisco Planning Department’s projection for 2010 pegs the city’s population at more than 111,000 residents.
A major boon to Frisco is the completion of the Dallas North Tollway from Highway 121 to FM 720, which is considered Frisco’s downtown Main Street. Additional highway and service road extensions are slated for completion within the next three to five years. This construction completion opens the city to a world of increased economic growth, both retail and residential. Frisco’s location is one to be envied: the city sits on the edge of the Dallas-Plano northern business center. Just to the north of Frisco sits a vast region moving toward major development.
Shopping is abundant in Frisco. From browsing in quaint, old downtown, to IKEA, to the exciting Stonebriar Centre and many new shopping centers cropping up in between, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for.
Frisco is a virtual paradise for sports fans. The Frisco RoughRiders, a Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, play in the city-owned Dr Pepper/Seven Up Ballpark. The city “teamed up” with the Frisco Independent School District, Southwest Sports Group and Mandalay Sports Entertainment to open the ballpark, which seats 8,800 with overflow in the berm for 1,200. Frisco is also the home of major league soccer club, FC Dallas, in the recently completed Pizza Hut Park. Located at the intersection of Main Street and the Dallas North Tollway, the 115-acre facility features a 20,000-plus-seat soccer stadium that accommodates other events such as major concerts, international soccer matches and high school football. Adjacent to the stadium are 17 full-sized, tournament grade soccer fields, which can be utilized on a year-round basis, making the center the focal point of youth soccer in North Texas and one of the showcase facilities in the country. Opened in 2007 is the Frisco Force Race Team and Go-Kart Park.
Frisco is the home of the Superdrome, an international cycling track. Frisco residents can also enjoy the Natatorium, which holds a 25-meter indoor pool, allowing for a swim team, swimming lessons and water aerobics. In addition, the aquatic center is complemented with a state-of-the-art fitness facility, indoor basketball court, archery and putting range with a total area of 33,000 sq. ft. The center is available to all Frisco residents on a membership basis. The city also has an abundance of parks spanning more than 550 acres, offering activities for children and adults alike. Golfers have their choice of three major courses: Stonebriar Country Club, Plantation Resort and Trails of West Frisco, while those interested in the arts will appreciate the presence of The Frisco Community Theatre and the Frisco Chorale.
Most of Frisco is served by Frisco Independent School District, with outlying areas served by Lewisville Independent School District and Prosper Independent School District. In addition, Frisco is home to the Preston Ridge Campus of the Collin County Community College.
